Mesa Bella’s Eco-Responsible Commitment

OUR ecological transition is just getting started. We want to expand our responsible offering with new eco-responsible sourced ranges nearby .

Practical and aesthetic ephemeral tableware can now rhyme with ecological with our recycled paper napkins as well as our new plates.

Recycled paper napkins: the star of the green range

Let's first look at our recycled paper napkins, made in Europe and certified FSC Recycled (made from recycled materials). The inks used do not contain harmful solvents. The natural tint of each napkin thus delicately highlights the roughness of the raw material.

Areca Leaf Plates

Palm leaf is one of the most natural raw materials. In fact, the manufacturer uses exclusively the naturally fallen leaves . No chemical additives are added during production, so it is a raw, unique and resistant product .

The palm leaf is 100% Home Compost . For the original side, we develop 2 exclusive Mesa Bella shapes : the star and the flower. The difference in tones and the small spots on some pieces accentuate the authentic look of this pretty range.

Pulp plate

Our Pulp' plates add some pep to your tables. Made in Italy from plant fibers , they are Home Compost certified . Available in 2 formats, 3 sizes and 8 colors, these plates are one of the “eco-friendly” solutions for ephemeral tableware.

Paper plate without plastic film

THE new thing for 2021 from the green Mesa Bella range! Indeed, from July 2021, you will no longer be able to find in stores the “classic” cardboard plates, laminated with a thin plastic layer. (cf article what alternative to plastic tableware ). However, don't panic, we have the solution, after much research, We have found the gem : a European production, FSC certified. And the most important point: the plastic layer is replaced by a layer of vegetable lacquer .

Labels that certify the green range and our approach

A small icon that we see more and more: the FSC label

The FSC label is a environmental label for the entire wood and paper industry. It guarantees responsible and sustainable management of the forest resources required during the production of a wood or wood-based product.

To date, our FSC-labeled products are paper napkins, cardboard plates without plastic film, tablecloths, etc. The raw material used for their production comes from ecologically viable forests managed with an environmental approach.

The Home Compost label

The term “compostable” refers to the accelerated implementation of natural biodegradation . To date, there are two labels: “Ok Compost” and “Ok Compost Home”.

Furthermore, our plant fiber plates are made in Italy and are certified "OK Compost Home ". So, if at home you are equipped with a domestic composter, indoor or in your garden, you can, after using these plates, place them in the Compost. The product deteriorates completely in several months.

Since 2021, the “plastic in the product” marking has joined the existing labels in the field of ephemeral tableware.

This is a labelling relating to the reduction of the impact of certain plastic products on the environment. This marking is to be used in a harmonised manner throughout the European Union. It must be affixed compulsorily since 3 July 2021 on certain types of products, including beverage cups. It specifies, for each category of product, the affixing conditions: location on the product or on its packaging, text/pictogram, font and colour, etc.

The origin or Made in

We include the origin on all our products. When François-Xavier Desnoulez launched Mesa Bella in 2006, 100% of the products were made in Asia.

For 15 years, we have been gradually reversing the trend. Thus, in 2022, 78% of our range is produced in Europe. We hope to reach 80% in 2025. For example, our towels are manufactured by a single supplier located in Poland, a guarantee of quality and trust .

In conclusion, our daily challenge is to combine the pleasure of beauty and the need to reduce our ecological impact.

To highlight sustainable and recyclable items, labels certify the eco-responsible approach we are taking.

• The OK Home Compost label guarantees that the product can be composted at home, by individuals.
